"Sing for joy to the Lord, O you righteous ones; praise is becoming to the upright. Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy." Psalm 33:1,3
At The People Church, we believe it is our responsibility, our privileged and our destiny to worship God in spirit and in truth. We believe worship is not about the kind of music you sing or play but about the heart of the one worshipping. But we also believe God has given us a variety of musical styles and other forms of expression with which to worship him...so we use them!
In our Worship service (Sunday mornings at 10:45) we love to sing great hymns and gospel songs. The focus here is on celebration and an intimate encounter with God. Come join us as the Worship Team and small ensemble leads in this worship time along with our gifted accompanists. The Worship team and ensemble meets for rehearsal on Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm. We'd love to have you join us.
Our goal in worship is to assist God's people as they meet with Him. You are the performers and He is the audience! The people on the stage are just here to help. I hope you'll join us this Sunday!
Worship Team and Ensemble- We have a variety of ways you can become involved in if God leads you to be a part of the Worship Ministry Team at The People Church:
What can an HOUR on SUNDAY look like?
Isaiah 61:1-3 says “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives, And freedom to prisoners; To proclaim the favorable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, To grant those who mourn in Zion, Giving them a garland instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the mantle of praise instead of a spirit of fainting. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.
Yes, that's what can happen every time we gather and the Spirit of the Lord is present. Isn't this a beautiful and accurate picture of the change that can take place in our hearts? As we plan and prepare for each Sunday's worship service we are painfully aware of how we all may enter the doors of this auditorium: afflicted, broken, captured, imprisoned, mournful, faint. Yet, as the Spirit anoints the songs that are sung, the prayers that are prayed, the Scripture readings that are read, and the sermons that are shared, we can leave an hour later with liberty, freedom, celebration, gladness, and comfort. And God's purpose of “making us into oaks of righteousness so that “He may be glorified” (v. 3) will be evident.
Your worship team of singers and musicians is looking for more people with the skill and passion to be used by God in this way in worship. If you have even an under-developed gift as a guitarist, drummer, singer or choir member, contact me, Diane Schenk (832-9795), or turn in a Communication Card with your interest. We will train and God will anoint your commitment.
